Emily Skinner, 19, from Attleborough cares for her mother.
“When I was at college, I had counselling at the wellbeing centre for anxiety. I didn’t know about Young Carers and I didn’t realise I was a Young Carer. The lady at the wellbeing centre referred me to a YACs support worker and I started going on residentials and got to know the rest of the team.
I’ve done things like bowling – I ‘ve been to Kingswood Activity centre with them. We stayed there for 2 nights. We’ve been to Eaton Vale Scouts centre.
It’s a good distraction to get away from life at home and good to be with people in a similar situation but we don’t always need to talk about caring.”
